Sex offender who was in Fargo wanted by police

Police are looking for a sex offender who had been living in Fargo.

Mario Alberto Rivera, 39, was residing at 2545 14th St. S. #205 before he was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation Jan. 14, Lt. Pat Claus said in a news release.

Rivera bonded out of the Grand Forks County Jail on Feb. 2, listing an address in Pisek, N.D., but police say he wasn’t living there after his release. Nor has he returned to his former Fargo residence, Claus said in the release.

Rivera had been assessed as a low risk to reoffend. He is required to register until 2025 for a 1995 conviction in Texas for burglary with the intent to commit sexual assault. His victim was an adult female.

Claus urged anyone with information on Rivera’s location to contact police.
