Date set for Barnes County North bond voteLEAL, N.D. (AP) — An April 19 date has been set for a second bond vote in the Barnes County North School District in southeast North Dakota.
KOVC radio reports that the school board has decided to put the matter back on the ballot after voters last September rejected the $14.5 million measure to replace the district's three facilities with a centralized school near Leal. The measure got 51 percent approval but needed 60 percent to pass.
Superintendent Doug Jacobson says consolidation would mean the elimination of 15 teaching positions, about half through retirement.
