Boosters role, mission are clearIn reference to the article that appeared in the Feb. 6 Sunday edition of The Forum, “Eligibility fuels debate,” we would like to clear any confusion this article might have with regard to the term Moorhead boosters and our Moorhead Spud Athletic Booster Club.
We would like it to be known that we do not hire legal counsel to investigate eligibility questions or spend money on such activities, and that the reference made to Moorhead boosters was a general comment, not to be confused with our club. The Moorhead Spuds Athletic Booster Club is dedicated to the continued support of our student athletes, coaching staff and athletic programs.
The mission of the Moorhead Spuds Athletic Booster Club is to:
- Support athletic and academic excellence.
- Encourage and support parent, family and community participation in Moorhead Spud Athletics.
- Promote sportsmanship.
- Raise funds to enhance and expand Spud athletic programs.
- Maintain the tradition of excellence that exemplifies our athletes, coaches and teams.
We demonstrate our support by contributing to each varsity sport banquet, recognizing state participants, purchasing championship banners, publishing the Spud Booster newsletter, chaperoning dances, contributing to Dollars for Scholars, providing scholarships for activity fees, and purchasing various equipment and supplies for Moorhead Spuds athletic teams, which has exceeded $75,000 over the past 10 years.
Thank you for allowing us to clarify any confusion this article caused.
