Ag/Farm and Energy Expo Feb. 18 on Staples campusSTAPLES, Minn. – The first Ag/Farm & Energy Expo sponsored by Central Lakes College and Mid Central Federal Savings Bank is scheduled Feb. 18 in Staples.
The expo, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on the Staples campus of Central Lakes College, features guest speaker Randall Reeder of Ohio State University.
Reeder is scheduled to speak at 10:30 a.m. on soil management, food agriculture and biological engineering, water quality and other agriculture topics.
Later in the day, at 7:30 p.m., Reeder will be performing as Will Rogers, showing and telling the lighter side of life on the farm. His performance will be at the Centennial Auditorium in downtown Staples. His show is free and open to the public.
The Ag/Farm and Energy Expo is the official kickoff for the newly named Central Lakes College Ag and Energy Center. It was previously known as CLC Ag Centers.
Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., following by breakout sessions starting at 1:15 p.m., including:
- Conservation stewardship.
- Wind energy considerations.
- Nutrient management.
- Solar applications.
- Energy crop opportunities and an Ag and Energy Center discussion.
There will be displays of wind towers and turbines, solar heat and energy efficiency equipment, and grain drying crop demonstrations.
