UND hockey forward Kristo out indefinitely with frostbite

University of North Dakota men’s hockey forward Danny Kristo sustained frostbite to toes on his right foot due to exposure to extreme cold while walking near campus on Sunday evening, the school has announced.

Kristo, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., is being treated at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. A timeline for his return is not known at this point.

“We have been in close contact with Danny’s family,” UND coach Dave Hakstol said in a release. “My concern is with Danny’s health and his full recovery.”

Hakstol will not provide any further comment or details out of respect for the privacy of Kristo and his family, and federal law prohibits UND athletics from providing any further disclosure.
