MSUM hires Lemke as head of security

Minnesota State University Moorhead announced Friday that Greg Lemke was hired as director of public safety.

Lemke has more than 25 years of experience in law enforcement and is currently a field services lieutenant with the Fargo Police Department.

Lemke is a Moorhead resident and has served on the Moorhead City Council since 2002.

He said the new position will not affect his role in city government.

Lemke said he is looking forward to this new opportunity that takes him

back to his hometown and alma mater.

“I’m a Moorhead person,” Lemke said. “To work in Moorhead and at a school I attended – it will afford me the opportunity to hopefully do some instructing in their criminal justice department.”

Doug Hamilton, MUSM spokesman, said a candidate search began last summer when former head of security Michael Parks accepted another position in Texas.

Hamilton said Lemke’s longtime police experience and contacts will be a benefit to the campus.

“He’s well positioned to work with his colleagues,” Hamilton said.

Lemke joined the Fargo Police in 1986; his last day will be Feb. 16.

He will start his new position with MSUM on Feb. 23.
