Nation needs to redefine sacrificeA patriot is one who zealously supports his own country and is willing to sacrifice for his country. While our troops are sacrificing for us, many of us are unwilling to sacrifice for our country to bring it to a firm financial footing.
As Congress begins to look at the budget, our legislators are calling for the vulnerable to sacrifice by giving up services they receive. At the same time they refuse to call upon the elite to sacrifice by paying their fair share of taxes. Our ranting about taxes being too high means we are not willing to do our share of sacrificing for the good of the country. The political leaders, especially, should be calling for this sacrifice from the elite.
How we need to again hear, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”
