Fargo police investigate assault with tire iron

A 22-year-old man required staples in his head after being hit with a tire iron during a fight on Sunday, Fargo police said.

The victim told police he met another man for what he believed was going to be a fistfight between 5 and 7 p.m. in the Countryside Trailer Park area in the 2500 block of Ninth Avenue South. The victim said he was hit in the back of the head with a tire iron, Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

Two groups totaling at least 10 people were at the scene, but it appears only the two parties engaged in a fight, Lykken said.

The victim went to Essentia Health on his own for treatment of his head injury, Lykken said.

No one was arrested, and the case remains under investigation, he said.
