Arson alleged in fire at Ada senior center

ADA, Minn. – A 31-year-old Ada man faces a second-degree arson charge in connection with a Saturday fire at the Ada senior citizen center, the prosecutor said.

Norman County Attorney Susan Nelson said the arson complaint charging Jason Timothy Campbell was filed late this afternoon.

Campbell faces a second-degree arson charge for the fire at the senior center and is expected to make an initial court appearance in Crookston today, a court clerk said Monday.

Ada Police Chief Wade Krohmer said a house fire had been reported at about 5:30 a.m. in Ada, and about an hour later, a caller told police a vehicle was stuck in a snow bank near the senior center about two blocks from the house fire.

Krohmer said he found Campbell leaving the center and then noticed it was on fire. After his arrest, Campbell was held in the Polk County Jail in Crookston.

Krohmer said the senior center fire appeared to start in the basement and left the building seriously damaged. He also said the two fires could be related.
