Sanford Health still testing for TBSanford Health continues its testing for patients that might have been infected by tuberculosis by one of its doctors in Fargo.
The health system disclosed in August that it was notifying 77 patients and 43 employees that might have been exposed after a doctor was diagnosed with the disease.
“We continue to work on contacting and completing testing with patients and family that may have been exposed,” Joan Cook, Sanford’s infection control manager in Fargo, said in a statement Wednesday.
“Testing is going very well but it’s taken longer than we originally planned. Some of the patients nd family members still have not completed their testing. When completed we’ll fully disclose the results of the number of people tested: negative, positive and potentially exposed.”
Dr. John Baird of Fargo Cass Public Health said he has not been notified of any positive test results from Sanford. “If there were any active case we would find out,” he said.
The case of a student in West Fargo who has tuberculosis is unrelated to the Sanford doctor, Baird said. “There’s no connection at all.”
