Oak Grove to start president search

Fargo’s Oak Grove Lutheran School will launch a national search for a new president, the Board of Regents announced Tuesday.

A 13-member search committee will be formed with representatives for the regents, administration, faculty, parents, students and alumni, the school announced.

The goal is to have the school’s 11th president in place by July, said AnnMarie Campbell, director of communications and marketing.

Campbell said the search committee should be formed within the next two weeks.

Marilyn Guy has served the school as interim president since July 2009.

Guy agreed to continue serving at Oak Grove until a new president is found, Campbell said. Guy said she will then return to Concordia College.

“She took a leave of absense from Concordia. Her plan is to go back to Concordia,” Campbell said.

Guy was out sick and not available for comment Tuesday.

Campbell said the school’s leaders put off looking for a new president while working on budget and enrollment issues. She said they are following a strategic plan put into place in August.

Guy replaced former president Bruce Messelt, who announced he was leaving the school in June 2009. Messelt later took a job as city administrator for Lake Elmo, Minn.
