Irresponsible Carlson initiativeRepublicans claim to be fiscally conservative. If that is so, then why is Rep. Al Carlson, R-Fargo, wasting the time of the North Dakota Legislature and the money of North Dakota taxpayers by introducing legislation regarding the University of North Dakota logo and nickname?
He says, “People want to keep the logo.” Some people do, some people don’t, and most people don’t care.
Surely North Dakota has more important issues to discuss and debate. How about funding for education at all levels? Roads? Water issues? Mental health issues? Prisons? The well-being of children, women, senior citizens and animals? The care of our air, water, parks, historical spaces? Poverty? Homelessness? And numerous other issues that affect the present and the future of people of all ages?
Surely a logo is insignificant compared to real issues and does not deserve the time for more discussion. And since time is money, this costs us all.
