Initiative encourages young people to explore careers in creative writing, artsFARGO - Marketplace for Kids is partnering with Beautiful Women of North Dakota on an initiative to encourage young people to explore careers in creative writing and the arts.
The “Innovation in Art and Literature, A Youth Initiative” program was announced today at a news conference at the Fargo Theatre.
Marketplace for Kids has traditionally concentrated on encouraging invention and marketing of products. The new initiative is designed to show students they can turn a love of creative writing and the arts into a business, officials said.
Chris Linnares of “Beautiful Women Of” said the program offers students a way to appreciate the inner beauty of different role models, such as a grandmother. The emphasis will be “on the beauty of the spirit,” she said.
“Art is an effective way to influence change,” added Bill Marcil, publisher of The Forum, who with Linnares is championing the initiative.
Stories and photos will be showcased during the Marketplace for Kids education days this spring around the region.
They will also be posted on the Marketplaceforkids.org web site and some stories and photos will be part of a “Beautiful Women Of” book planned for publication in the fall, Marcil and Linnares said.
