Fargo Theatre plans Martin Luther King Jr. event

The Fargo Human Relations Commission will host its annual celebration to honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature performances by local musicians and the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Choir.

Fargo Human Relations Awards will be presented to Taylor Gess, a senior at Fargo South High School, Dwight Schroeder, a financial counselor and educator at the Village Family Service Center and the F-M Community Bike Workshop.

Artwork by Lincoln, Hawthorne and Kennedy elementary students in Fargo, highlighting the program’s theme “Fearless: Walking in our Neighbors’ Shoes,” will be on display.

Those attending the event are invited to donate to the YWCA Emergency Shelter and the Village Family Service Center’s Nokomis Childcare Centers. Local Walmart stores will match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $2,000.
