Fargo police: Card game set off assault suspectFARGO – Police say a Fargo man upset that his girlfriend and a friend were playing cards when he didn’t want to play allegedly assaulted them both Thursday night, knocking the girlfriend unconscious.
Kevin Leigh Martin Jr., 28, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence.
Sgt. Mark Lykken said the girlfriend and friend wanted to play cards after dinner, but Martin didn’t want to and became upset when they started playing.
Martin allegedly began to punch the 38-year-old male friend. When Martin’s 26-year-old girlfriend tried to stop him, he allegedly punched her in the head, causing her to lose consciousness, and also restricted her airway.
The woman was taken by F-M Ambulance to Essentia Health.
Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the incident, Lykken said.
