History Lecture Series to focus on immigration

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will host the History Lecture Series on select Saturdays through May at the Moorhead Hjemkomst Center.

Each lecture will focus on different topics surrounding immigration. The presentations are free, but admission will be charged to see exhibits.

The first lecture is at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 with Joy Lintelman, professor of history at Concordia College, who will talk about her book, “I Go To America.”

The book traces Swedish immigrant Mina Anderson’s trip to Wisconsin and the Twin Cities, where she worked as a domestic servant, and her move to rural Mille Lacs County, Minn., where she and her husband farmed, raised seven children and contributed to rural Swedish community life.
