’59 concert interviews, photos sought for filmA crew for a documentary film chronicling Buddy Holly’s final tour in January and February 1959 will be in the Fargo-Moorhead area in February, filming interviews with fans who saw the show at the Moorhead Armory on Feb. 3, 1959.
The Moorhead show featured Bobby Vee and The Shadows, who volunteered to play during the concert after Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P “The Big Bopper” Richardson died in a plane crash earlier that day in Iowa.
The documentary, “Gotta Travel On: The Winter Dance Party Odyssey,” has been mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine and on “NBC Nightly News.”
Interviews with fans who saw the 11 final shows from Milwaukee to Clear Lake, Iowa, as well as interviews with most of the surviving musicians from the tour, have already been filmed.
The crew is seeking people from the Fargo-Moorhead area to interview for the film and is also offering cash to anyone who may have photographs from the show.
