Vikings stadium amusing dilemmaAs a Green Bay Packer fan, I loved Erwin Rud’s rant about the collapse of the Metrodome and his, to put it mildly, “interesting” solution for financing a new stadium for the Vikings. It’s so typical of what we Packer Backers find so hilarious about Vikings fans.
Really? Every one of Minnesota’s 5.3 million people is a Vikings fan and there’s an equal amount somewhere else who would contribute out of the goodness of their hearts to a new stadium? Who came up with that idea? Jesse Ventura?
Have one good year, give the coach a new extended contract with a big fat raise. Let him have a few bad games, largely because of injuries he had no control over, and you fire him. Aren’t you still paying Dennis Green and Mike Tice severance?
And speaking of severance, recently departed Gov. Tim Pawlenty now comes out in full support of a new stadium when he couldn’t get the job done on his watch? Looks to me like he really is a viable candidate for the Republican nomination in ’12.
Oh, well. Keep up the good work, you loyal Vikings fans. After all, it’s a new year, and the Packers are once again in the playoffs and the Vikings are on vacation!
