Bison football team adds another recruit from Arizona

North Dakota State is piling up the recruiting goods in the state of Arizona.

Safety Danell Miles of Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., gave the Bison football program a verbal commitment on Tuesday night, the fourth player from the state to do so.

This connection: He and Bison recruit Jordan Champion of Avondale, Ariz., played Pee Wee football together, said Desert Edge head coach Rich Wellbrock.

“He can run and he can hit,” Wellbrock said. “He really came into his own this past year.”

Miles was a Class 4A first team all-state selection by the Arizona Republic newspaper. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Miles, who had 86 tackles and four interceptions his senior year, chose NDSU over offers from Northern Arizona and the University of Montana. Wellbrock also said Montana State was in the mix.

Miles joins quarterback Ryan Stanford and running back Matt Jones from Scottsdale as Arizona recruits.
