Ex-boyfriend accused in Fargo apartment fire

A 23-year-old from Grand Forks was charged in Cass County District Court on Tuesday with arson.

Jamey Ronald Kinney is accused of starting a fire on Nov. 7 at 1519 48th St. S., Fargo, at the door of the apartment unit of Alysha Keezer, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, according to court documents.

Though she initially told police Kinney was with her all night on Nov. 7, his girlfriend at the time, Jennifer Cossette, told police on Monday that he told her he put nail polish remover on Keezer’s doorway and carpet and started the fluid on fire, court records state.

Fire crews took samples of what appeared to be an accelerant from the carpet, and the door had a burn mark about a foot long, police reports stated.

Keezer and her son were not injured during the fire, escaping out the window, according to police reports.

Kinney was being held in the Cass County Jail without bail pending an initial court appearance expected to occur today.
