USHL: Forward Farley to stay on with ForceForward Austin Farley will stay with the Fargo Force junior hockey team, coach Jason Herter said Thursday.
He played with the Force (13-10-4) on Wednesday in a 2-1 win over Dubuque.
Farley played one game with the Force earlier in the year, scoring his first goal. He was on the team’s affiliate list to start the season.
“Having him here gives us some depth,” Herter said. “He has a good sense of where he needs to be and can put the puck in the net.”
Farley was playing in the Triple-A Elite League with the Chicago Mission, a program that produced current Force defenseman Justin Wade and forward Jimmy Murray.
Herter said Farley played on the team’s fourth line with Nate Arentz and Princeton commit Tyler Maugeri.
He described the 5-foot-6 Farley as a player that is capable of scoring.
“He showed that ability in practice,” Herter said. “But there’s a difference between what you see in practice and a game.”
The Force had Thursday off although they are in the midst of a three-game road trip.
They play Sioux City today and Sioux Falls on Saturday before returning home for a two-game series starting next Friday against Waterloo.
The Force have won eight of their last 11 games and are on a three-game winning streak, which is tied for the longest this season.
