Red River Valley Fair announces first musical acts for 2011The Red River Valley Fair has announced its first grandstand acts for 2011.
The country band Little Big Town and country singer Jason Jones will headline the first night of the fair, July 8. The fair runs through July 16.
The Red River Valley Fair Facebook page said it would announce its first act after 2,000 Facebook users “liked” its page.
The Fair’s website,www.redrivervalleyfair.com, said the organization would reveal another show for every 500 new fans of the Facebook page. People can sign up at www.facebook.com/Red.River.Valley.Fair.
Reaction among the Facebook fans was mostly positive to the first show, though some demanded more rock acts.
The fair’s Facebook site said there would be four nights of rock music, three nights of country and two nights of dirt-track events. It also stated that only two of the acts booked had previously played the fair.
An act that canceled last year’s show, LoCash Cowboys, will play the fair July 10, according to their website, www.locashcowboys.com.
According to touring industry website www.pollstar.com, country musician Jason Michael Caroll also plays July 10.
All fair grandstand shows are free with gate admission.
