Hockey: United States picks up victory against SlovakiaBUFFALO, N.Y. – Team USA didn’t have the services of the University of North Dakota’s Brock Nelson or Chicago Blackhawks forward Jeremy Morin on Tuesday night.
That didn’t slow down the defending champs one bit, though.
Playing without the injured forwards, both listed as day-to-day, the Americans easily cruised to a 6-1 win over Slovakia in preliminary round play at the World Junior Championship.
Team USA improved to 2-0 in the tournament and can earn a bye to the semifinals of the medal round with wins over Germany on Thursday and Switzerland on Friday.
