MLB: Webb to honor for RedHawks player

Major League pitcher Brandon Webb is planning to honor former Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks pitcher Jon Hooker this season, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.

Webb, who reportedly has agreed to a one-year deal with the Texas Rangers, has asked to wear No. 33 as a tribute to Hooker, according to Crasnick.

Hooker, who died in a plane crash in August 2006 the day after his wedding, was a teammate of Webb’s at the University of Kentucky.

Hooker pitched for the RedHawks from 2002-04 and played on F-M’s 2003 Northern League championship team.
