Williston refutes housing study resultsWILLISTON, N.D. — Williston officials are questioning the results of a state study that estimates housing demand in the city amid booming oil activity.
The Williston Herald reports that the study estimated Williston's population would hit 23,600 by 2025 before declining to about 20,900 by 2030.
Williston Workforce Development Coordinator Shawn Wenko says city officials believe the estimates are too conservative and could hinder housing development. He says oil industry officials have higher population projections.
Watford City, Tioga, Stanley, New Town and Parshall also participated in the housing study organized by the state to determine housing needs in the region.
