Richland County considers 'de-paving' roadsWAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Richland County officials are considering turning some asphalt roads in the county to gravel as an alternative to costly street repair.
The Wahpeton Daily News says county engineer Tim Schulte wants to begin a new process called de-paving.
Schulte says the county has some lightly traveled roads that are difficult and costly to maintain. He says the county could grind up the roads or place gravel over them.
Schulte says about 10 percent of asphalt roads in the county are in bad shape and could be candidates for the de-paving process.
