Two snowmobilers injured near Leonard, N.D.

LEONARD, N.D. – Two snowmobilers were injured this morning when separate sleds went airborne after striking a drainage ditch.

The snowmobilers, both male, were taken by ambulance to a Fargo hospital, said Ransom County Sheriff Darren Benneweis.

“They weren’t life-threatening, but they were serious,” the sheriff said of the injuries.

The identities of the two male snowmobilers, both male, were not disclosed, so their conditions were not available. Benneweis didn’t know if the victims were related. One was an adult.

The accident, during a father-son snowmobile outing, happened about 9:30 a.m. about eight miles southwest of Leonard near 57th Street.
