Fox Sports Net sets lineup for "Hockey Day Minnesota"The faces and sights known to many in Moorhead will become well known to the rest of Minnesota pretty shortly.
Details regarding “Hockey Day Minnesota” on Feb. 12 in Moorhead were released on Thursday by Fox Sports North along with the Minnesota Wild.
The outdoor games, which will be held in Moorhead, start at 10 a.m on Feb. 12. No. 1 and state title favorite Wayzata plays perennial power Roseau at 10 a.m. Moorhead (2-2-1) faces No. 9 Hill-Murray at 1:30 p.m.
Coaches from all four schools, including Moorhead’s Dave Morinville, will be interviewed during the Minnesota Wild pregame show.
The Denver-Minnesota game will follow the outdoor games at 5 p.m. at Mariucci Arena, and that game will feature Moorhead alumnus and Denver defenseman John Lee.
One of the things scheduled to be featured by the network will be Moorhead alumnus and Wild forward Matt Cullen’s charity “Cully’s Kids.”
Cullen’s foundation raises money for organizations providing needs to help children with cancer. FSN plans to do a profile of the charity.
Cullen is in his first season with the Wild, who play the late game at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 against the St. Louis Blues in St. Paul.
“Hockey Day Minnesota” is in its fifth year, and Moorhead was selected to host the event in March.
The goal of the day is to promote the sport throughout the state.
Last year, the day-long event feature 21 hours of hockey-related programming, along with 3,500 people attending last year’s outdoor game in Hermantown, Minn.
