Icy roads a factor in car-pedestrian accidentMOORHEAD – An icy and snow-covered road was a factor in a car-pedestrian accident late Tuesday that sent a 47-year-old man to the hospital with several injuries, Moorhead police say.
The accident happened at about 11 p.m. in the 900 block of 30th Avenue South.
When officers arrived, they found Dennis Wayne Paul, no permanent address, lying in the eastbound lane. He was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, including broken bones and cuts, according to Sgt. Steve Larsen.
Police say it appears the vehicle’s driver, 33-year-old Jason McClean of Moorhead, was traveling in the eastbound lane of 30th Avenue and was unable to avoid Paul, who was walking down the middle of the eastbound lane.
The road was “very slippery,” Larsen wrote in a news release.
The incident remains under investigation and police are asking anyone with information about it to call the Moorhead Police Department at (218) 299-5120.
