Iraqi restaurant opening in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS – A restaurant featuring Iraqi cuisine is getting set to open in Grand Forks.

Phamir Kadhim tells the Grand Forks Herald that he’d thought of opening a restaurant ever since he moved to the city and finally was able to. He and his family left Baghdad after life there got too dangerous, spent time in Turkey and ultimately found asylum in the U.S. in April 2008.

The restaurant is called Babylon, after the famed city of ancient times. Kadhim hopes to have it open this week or soon after.
