Storm leaves this weekend for holiday shopping in Twin Cities

ROSEVILLE, Minn. β€” A winter storm wiped out last weekend's holiday shopping, so Twin Cities retailers are bracing for an onslaught of business this weekend.

Rosedale Center mall spokeswoman Liz Ostrander predicts Saturday will be β€œan absolute zoo.” The Roseville mall has been running two huge snow-melting machines 24/7 to clear its 5,600 parking places.

At Woodbury Lakes mall, its 54 retailers are hoping to make up this weekend for business lost by closing early last Saturday. Mall of America in Bloomington is expecting Saturday's crowds to rival Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the Mall of America will use Twitter to direct shoppers to available parking.
