New 34th Street South interchange in Moorhead to open ThursdayDETROIT LAKES, Minn.— The new Interstate 94 and 34th Street South interchange in Moorhead will open to traffic on Thursday. The Main Avenue/Clay County Road 52 interchange west of the new interchange will close once the new interchange is open.
Construction on the $19.1 million cooperative projects between the city of Moorhead and the Minnesota Department of Transportation began in September 2008.
Riley Bros. Construction Inc. and Master Construction Company, the project contractors, will finish construction next spring. Work remaining includes an extension of the eastbound auxiliary lane on I-94 and intersection improvements at 34th Street South and Clay County Road 52, including signal installation.
