Men's hockey: North Dakota beats MSU-Mankato 4-2

MANKATO, Minn. – North Dakota got goals from four players to beat Minnesota State, Mankato 4-2 Sunday in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game delayed a day by a winter storm.

Matt Frattin notched his WCHA-leading 17th goal for the Fighting Sioux (13-5-2, 11-3-0), who beat the Mavericks 3-2 on Friday. Sunday’s win gave North Dakota its second road sweep of the season.

North Dakota trailed 2-1 heading into the third period. Brock Nelson, Brad Malone and Evan Trupp scored in the final period, assuring the Sioux first place at the halfway point.

Ben Youds and Ryan Galiardi staked the Mavericks (6-8-4, 4-8-2) to a 2-1 lead with goals in the first period.

North Dakota outshot the Mavericks 32-21. UND goalie Aaron Dell made 19 saves, while MSUM goalie Austin Lee had 28 stops.
