Forum misrepresented our church’s decisionShame, shame, shame on The Forum. You are the ones who chose to make the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s proposed social statement on genetics the No. 1 reason why our church chose to leave the ELCA. You were specifically told not to make that the main issue because it was not the No. 1 issue to us. We never claimed to have read the draft statement in its entirety but made mention of it in passing.
The ELCA was going in a direction that our church was not in agreement with.
Please put to rest the fact that we “jumped ship.” We worked hard and long to come to our final decision with our first steps starting at the beginning of the year 2010. We did not take this lightly.
We expect nothing less than an apology as we move forward with excitement and wonderful support of our decision. This is a challenging time for our church, and we are working diligently to make it work. We are a small congregation but united in our decision. We ask only your prayers and welcome anyone to join us.
