Forum editorial: A good legislator wraps up 20 yearsNorth Dakota legislators of all political persuasions will miss Sen. Elroy Lindaas, D-Mayville, who announced his resignation last week because his wife is ill. He’s served in the state Senate for 20 years, establishing a reputation as a civil, honest and principled lawmaker.
Lindaas was among those who fought hard – often with success – to put more money into K-12 education. He championed support for long-term care for the state’s aging population. In announcing his resignation, he said he would have liked to continue to work for District 20 and the state, and hopes his priorities will be picked up by others.
His resignation is a loss for the Legislature, but he can be proud of an honorable and productive record of service.
