Paying too much for health care?T. Denny Sanford is one of the most generous men in the country, and we should all be grateful for that. But Sanford and Sanford Health are separate entities, and I find it troubling that Sanford Health, a nonprofit, seems determined to donate millions of dollars to various causes, often in trade for naming rights or other advertising.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about nonprofit financing, but surely a significant portion of Sanford Health revenues are derived from its patients/customers. The company has stated its donated millions are “insignificant.” Well, if that is true, we are probably paying too much for our health care.
Quite frankly, I don’t see why this company (or any other health care entity) needs to spend these massive sums on self-promotion; we ought to be accessing only the medical services we need, and we know how to do that.
