Shame on The Forum for fur-promotion storyMy daughter-in-law works for FirstLink. She tells me that the need for holiday gifts for needy individuals – children and vulnerable adults in Cass and Clay counties – is upward of 4,000.
The Forum recently featured a picture on the front page of the Lifestyle section of a vain young woman wearing a $9,000 fur coat. Not only was she wearing it with pride, but she suggested every woman in our part of the country should have one – for the climate, don’t you know.
I wonder if any were being distributed to the people living in the homeless shelters of Fargo-Moorhead or under the bridges where luck means having enough newspapers to keep you from freezing.
Let’s see: $9,000 would buy about 900 gifts for the FirstLink Giving Tree for underprivileged area people.
I’ve seen those animal skins on their original owners, and they looked a whole lot better on them than they do on the model. Shame on you, Forum.
