Two hospitalized after three-vehicle accidentA three-vehicle accident in north Fargo on Tuesday evening sent two people to the hospital.
According to Fargo police Sgt. Mark Lykken:
Naemi Schmidt, 76, of Fargo, was northbound on University Drive at about 6:30 p.m. when she failed to stop at a stop sign.
Her vehicle was struck by an oncoming semi travelling west on 40th Avenue North at about 30 mph.
The driver, Darryl Alsager, 57, of Walcott, N.D., saw Schmidt’s vehicle and attempted to stop but couldn’t.
The semi jack-knifed into the ditch at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Meanwhile, Schmidt’s vehicle spun and also struck a pickup that was stopped eastbound on 40th Avenue North, waiting to turn left onto North University Drive.
All vehicles were inoperable after the collision, with damage estimated at $16,000 among the three vehicles.
No citations were issued at the accident scene.
Both Schmidt and the driver of the pickup – Stacie Halbakken-Zeller, 37, of Fargo – were taken by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center.
A Sanford spokesperson said Thursday no information was available on the condition of either driver.
