Poor journalism example from Forum on cheer teamFirst and foremost, congratulations to the Barnesville High School football team, coaches and cheerleaders on their successful season. It is also nice to see an increased interest in cheerleading and the opportunity for more students to be involved in activities.
However, I am wondering why, after such a positive article about the cheer program, The Forum felt the need to bring a past dance issue into an article on cheerleading. A few of my dancers are involved in cheerleading, and I support them in that activity by working the dance schedule around games and practices. The two activities coexist without conflict.
It is always a good thing to have positive activities for students to be involved in, which is my goal with my studio and competition teams. It is my privilege to coach these young ladies. My question to The Forum is: What does my studio and dance teams have to do with the BHS Jr. High Cheer Squad? One has nothing to do with the other.
I believe The Forum displayed irresponsible journalism by trying to create a conflict where one does not exist. Please, stop trying to make news and try just reporting it for a change.
