Moorhead police say man lied about being robbedMOORHEAD – Police say a Moorhead man gave them a bogus story when he reported being physically assaulted and robbed of a significant amount of cash Saturday night.
The 32-year-old man wasn’t injured, and he told police no weapon was used. Police weren’t sure where the incident took place and asked for the public’s help.
Lt. Tory Jacobson issued a news release today stating further investigation of the case revealed the man “falsely reported this incident and that no assault or robbery had occurred.”
The case was sent to the Clay County Attorney’s Office to consider whether to charge the man with falsely reporting a crime, a gross misdemeanor.
