Fosston couple identified as victims in fatal crash

FOSSTON, Minn. – A Fosston couple has been identified as the two people who died after their pickup collided with a semi on County Road 6 near Fosston on Monday.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims Tuesday as Donald Agar, 68 and Alma Agar, 66, of Fosston.

The accident may have been the result of poor roads, as visibility was less than a half mile and drifting snow made the road slippery at the time of the accident, a release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office stated.

According to the sheriff’s office:

The accident happened about 2 p.m. Monday about two miles north of Fosston.

A semi hauling beans to the Fosston Elevator was southbound on County Road 6 when it collided with a Chevrolet pickup heading north.

The impact caused the semi to jack-knife and slide into the east ditch. The truck came to rest on the edge of the roadway.

The Agars were pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi driver had no apparent injuries.

The Agars were wearing their seat belts, and their air bags deployed.
