North Dakota man gets nearly 5 years prison for child pornMINOT, N.D. (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a North Dakota man to nearly five years in prison because his computer had more than 100 different images of child pornography on it when he took it for repairs.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 44-year-old Timothy Howell of Berthold will serve four years and nine months in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
Prosecutors say Howell took his computer to a repair business in Minot in February 2009, and a technician there noticed the pornographic images. The technician notified law enforcement who arrested Howell after determining that some of the images depicted minors engaged in sex acts.
Howell pleaded guilty to the charge in April.
