Man gets prison term for dealing cocaine

A man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for dealing crack cocaine in Fargo.

Tyrone Gregory Jones was sentenced Tuesday in Fargo’s U.S. District Court.

After the prison term, Jones will be on supervised release for six years and will have six months of electronic home monitoring, according to terms of the sentence.

Between November 2007 and March 2009, Jones acknowledged he distributed up to 5 grams of a cocaine-based substance in Cass County.

During the same time, another man, Raphael Jameel Murphy, distributed between 5 and 20 grams of the drug.

Murphy previously pleaded guilty to one count of selling, distributing or dispensing a controlled substance.

He faces between five and 40 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $2 million.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16.
