IRS has unclaimed tax refunds for ND, Minnesota residents

The Internal Revenue Service is looking for North Dakota and Minnesota residents who have unclaimed tax refunds.

In North Dakota, nearly $123,000 in refunds could not be delivered because of mailing address errors. The total for Minnesota residents is nearly $1.4 million.

If a refund is returned to the IRS as undelivered, taxpayers can update their address using the “Where’s My Refund?” tool at www.irs.gov. Taxpayers will be required to enter their Social Security number, filing status and amount of refund shown on their 2009 return.

Taxpayers can also check on a refund by calling (800) 829-1954.
