Minnesota community leader charged with child pornBRAINERD, Minn. – A 52-year-old Brainerd man says he will not accept the Brainerd Citizen of the Year Award after he was charged with possessing child pornography.
The Brainerd Dispatch reports Steven “Gus” Augustinack was charged Friday with 28 counts of felony possession of porno-graphic work involving a minor.
On Monday, he told the news-paper he apologized for the pain he caused and says he's in coun-seling to overcome years of addiction to Internet pornogra-phy.
His attorney, Charles Halverson, says the alleged videos of children were a tiny sample of the 75,000 adult videos found on Augustinack's hard drive. He says that shows Augustinack wasn't interested in child pornography.
Last month, Augustinack was recognized by Brainerd Com-munity Action for his work with many area service organizations.
