Pomeroy: Pelosi shouldn’t run for House leaderBISMARCK – North Dakota Democratic Rep. Earl Pomeroy says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shouldn’t run for House minority leader, but he says Pelosi probably has the votes to win.
Pomeroy lost to Republican Rick Berg in last week’s North Dakota U.S. House election. Pomeroy said Republicans were “ruthlessly effective” in linking him to the liberal California congresswoman. In one of his final campaign ads, Pomeroy declared that “I’m not Nancy Pelosi.”
Democrats lost their House majority in the election, and Pelosi says she will run for Democratic minority leader.
Pomeroy said the decision is “highly surprising” and he said he wouldn’t support Pelosi if he were coming back to Congress. “When the team gets thumped, maybe the coach ought to go.”
