Jamestown has good summer for tourismJAMESTOWN, N.D. – Jamestown tourism officials are reporting a good summer.
The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation says that a car counter at Frontier Village tallied 174,330 visitors from mid-April through September, up 35 percent from the previous year.
Foundation director Nina Sneider says the group expanded advertising to Canada, and it paid off. The Jamestown Sun reports that Canadian visitors came from seven provinces, including as far east as Nova Scotia. Sneider says visitors also came from all 50 states.
The National Buffalo Museum was down slightly in attendance at the end of September. But director Felicia Sargeant says she expects attendance to top 2009 by the end of the year. That museum is open year-round.
