Bloomington teen hurt in hunting accidentORTONVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A Bloomington teenager was injured in a hunting accident in Big Stone County of western Minnesota.
The sheriff's office says the youth's father, Douglas Gess, told investigators he was loading his shotgun when the gun accidentally discharged. The slug traveled through the pickup box into the cab of the truck, where it struck 16-year-old Jesse Gess.
He was taken to the Ortonville Hospital. Neither the sheriff's office nor the hospital would release information on his injuries or condition Sunday.
The accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, about a mile south of the Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge headquarters.
