Some Minnesota offices won’t offer new licensesST. PAUL – Officials at the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Division were recently informed by the U.S. State Department that passport regulations no longer allow applications for U.S. passports and first-time driver’s licenses, instruction permits or ID cards to be processed in the same office.
As a result, 24 of Minnesota’s driver’s license agents will no longer accept applications for new driver’s licenses, instruction permits or IDs beginning Tuesday. They will continue to offer passport services and accept applications for renewals and duplicate documents.
