College volleyball: MSUM tops No. 2-ranked Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead’s volleyball team rallied for a big upset Saturday, as the Dragons came back from a one-set deficit to defeat No. 2-ranked Minnesota-Duluth 25-20, 17-25, 13-25, 26-24, 15-13 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

Heidi Lensing led the Dragons (14-12, 10-8 NSIC) with 15 kills. Kayla Handevidt added 13 kills and four blocks.

Katie Kuffel had a match-high 22 kills for the Bulldogs (23-4, 15-3). Eleena Iisakka led with 63 assists.

MSUM (kills-blocks-aces): Splittstoesser 4-2-0 (51 assists), Egeland 8-5-0, Lensing 15-1-0, Feldman 8-5-0, Tvrdik 11-5-0, Ness 0-0-1 (17 digs), Handevidt 13-4-2.

UMD: B. Hansen 4-3-1, Nelson 8-10-2, Kuffel 22-5-0, Lange 18-2-1, Iisakka 0-1-1 (63 assists), A. Hansen 13-3-0, Lamers 0-0-1, Fanta 0-0-0 (23 digs), Johnson 3-0-0, Lakatos 2-1-0.
